The school mission is defined as that of preserving its tradition of being liberal, independent, and without religious affiliations. It is independent in that it holds no political stance and the education offered is not specifically aimed at any particular cultural or professional group. Furthermore, it is non-confessional in that it has no connection with, nor funding from any religious orders, nor does it advocate any particular religious ideology. However, in accordance with Spanish educational law, it offers pupils the option of either following Catholic Relgion courses as a school subject or alternative classes to Religion. These latter courses are focused on an education in values in Primary, and on the History of Religions in Secondary – an historical-cultural perspective, and proselyte on the importance that different religions have had throughout history.

The school is liberal in its approach in that its aim is to continue and further the philosophy of a liberal education. On these lines, and one of the most important differentiating factors of this school, is the adherence to the model of  nurturing a special relationship between pupils and teachers, one that is not based on hierarchy but on affective criteria, with mutual respect as its fundamental basis. Following from this, one essential objective is that the pupils be at ease and that should develop a very positive attitude towards school so that they may learn and study within a pleasant, communicative a environment. This forms the basis for the development of the school´s educational project and the definition of its objectives with respect to the promotion of fundamental values: the use of responsible liberty, mutual respect, collaboration, self-control, and the development of  personal and collective organisational skills for work and study.
