In contrast to a more traditional logocentric educational project (wherein the most important aspect is the adquisiton of knowledge), the school, without ignoring the importance of adquiring such knowledge, makes it primordial within its objectives that pupils are able to “learn to learn” during their school career based on the principle that it is as important how you learn as what you learn, thus equiping them with abilities and skills that are as important as the subject matter in question. Another obvious objective is the importance of an education in values, based on the integrated educational model that goes far beyond mere instruction and permeates all levels and areas of the pupil´s education at the school on a broad front.
Following from these objectives, the teaching approach uses a methodological system that is based on activities, which are proven to be far more motivating than those to be found in a more traditional educational system. One aspect of this is the fact that the school is a pioneer in the field of new technologies applied to education and all the classrooms, from the second year of Infants and throughout have interactive white boards with internet connection available as a major classroom tool.

It is understood that ITC is essential in a world where most of the stimulus that young people receive is audiovisual. This application allows the teaching staff to make use of a broad range of educational resources, either designed by the teaching staff itself or taken from specific educational sites from a variety of sources.
The school project places fundamental importance on foreign language adqusition as a preparation for the future of pupils. On finishing their schooling with us, the aim is for them to be proficient in English, and to that end, English as a medium of instruction commences at the Infant level, while the main focus is in Primary with 50% of the classes given in English in order to give pupils a head start in language adquisition prior to the start of their secondary years. In Secondary specific instruction within the English Language programmes is given so that pupils may sit for the University of Cambridge examinations in English as a foreign language (PET, First Certificate and Advanced Certificate in English). From their first year in the Secondary School they may also take a second foreign language, choosing between French or German. |
