Information and Computer Technology is not only a basic tool for instruction and work  at present and for the future of our pupils, it is also a key  to modern communication and access to information. The use of computers and ICT has proven to be an effective element in teaching and a powerful methodological tool, providing a valuable instrument in intellectual development, whereby pupils may learn to create their own programmes, prepare themes of study, etc and which encourages structural organisation, rigour and clarity. ICT applications and programmes are used at all levels as instructional tools in the main subjects throughout the school and ICT is a compulsory subject in some Secondary years with a programme of studies that guarantees that our students have a thorough working knowledge of specific programmes.

From Infants 2 onwards, all the classrooms are fitted with interactive whiteboards connected to internet for daily use. The school also boasts three ultra-modern computer labs, one in each section of the school, with a broad range of educational software available for use, and a lap-top centre in the Senior Library.

The school has an IT Applications Dept, made up of teachers from all the sections of the school and the various Departments. Its purpose is to

research for educational materiales and design custom-made software for the classroom in specific subjects according to teacher and syllabus demand. In this way it is a leader among schools in Spain promoting computer applications in classroom instruction and its teachers often present their work in national conferences.

Furthermore, the whole school organisation works through a purpose-designed intranet system called Prometeo which manages all the academic and school information for each pupil, and gives quick and efficient access to it for administrative purposes,  to teachers and other staff.

Colegio Base has a web page that is continually updated so as to provide general information about the school´s mission, objectives, courses of study etc. Fast becoming a major source of information exchange between school and home, it provides pupils´ families with everyday details about school activities (excursions, special events, school dining, school transport etc) and facilitates communicaton between all those directly involved in the school community. The termly issues of the school magazine, interesting educational articles and other information of general interest is also given on the web page.
